Futures shares what the theme of joy means to them in this season and how Luke 2 inspired their song of the same name!

As we were writing JOY I came across the passage in Luke 2 where an angel appears to some shepherds and makes a big announcement, specifically “good news of great joy for all people.”

The savior of the world had just been born; joy to the world!

Whatever the shepherds were working on in the fields instantly took a back seat to the life-changing news they’d just heard.

The chapter goes on to describe the response of angels and shepherds alike, singing and giving glory to God for this unfathomable gift.

Sometimes I think I can approach the holiday season in desperate need of good news and great joy. Our souls can grow a little weary throughout the year and by the time we turn the corner into Advent, that kind of soul-lifting, outlook-shifting joy can feel a million miles away.

If you’re starting to find yourself overwhelmed by the hustle of life today, I’d love to encourage you to take a minute or ten to pause and realign your perspective.
