C3 NYC
C3 NYC Worship is the musical expression of C3 NYC, a local church for the people of New York City with many locations. C3 NYC was founded in 2013 by pastors Josh and Georgie Kelsey with a heart to see the city and beyond to come alive through the love of Christ. The essence of their music is to point people to Jesus and see the glory of who He is so that we may better know who we are.
C3 NYC has released “Never Has” off of their newest album, Revival Days. They share the process of writing and how they felt God move within the song.
Before we finished writing our album Revival Days, we knew that we were missing a song.
We felt like God wanted us to write an anthem for our church, one that sparked hope and could be a battle cry for faith.
So a few members of our team, Hannah Rae, Matthew and Ron flew from NYC to Nashville to write, where we found ourselves in a room with Jordan Mohilowski and Mia Fieldes. It was there that we wrote the song “Never Has.”
During our writing session, we all shared different stories of being in a season of waiting, where we were processing discouragement and disappointment.
This inspired us to speak truth in the opposite spirit and to write a song to encourage those who are in that same place—waiting for a miracle, waiting for God to come through.
Mia has such an anointing for faith in her own journey, and we quickly found ourselves writing a song that stirred up our own faith in the room—
a song that spoke from a place of victory before the promise was even fulfilled.
1 Corinthians 1:9 AMPC says,
“God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on.)”
Isaiah 43:19 NIV says,
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
That is what this song is rooted on: the faithfulness of our God to fulfill the promises that He has spoken; that He will make a way and He is doing a new thing.
No matter what circumstances come our way, we can trust that the Lord will do what He promises and He will come through.
We can stand on His Word and the goodness of His character.
When people listen to “Never Has,” we hope that their spirits are encouraged to stand on the truth of God’s promises in His Word. That as they listen to these lyrics, they are reminded of the ways that He’s been faithful to them personally and biblically. That their faith would be made stronger.
May this song remind people of God’s good character, to not be discouraged by the challenges they may face, but to have faith to believe that He will come through. God never has and never will fail us. We can sing this song from a place of victory, before and after the breakthrough.
