Gas Street Music

Gas Street Music (formerly Worship Central) is the sound of Gas Street Church from Birmingham, UK. "We believe everything we do (or 'our lives') should be woven in worship, with a focus to wholeheartedly lead people into an encounter with Jesus.”

“Come And Have Your Way” is a heartfelt prayer for God to do whatever He wants to do as we worship Him. It’s a song for those times in our gathered worship journey when we surrender and say, ‘over to you, Lord – do whatever you want or need to right here, right now.

We are reminded in James 4:8 “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”

This a beautiful dynamic that happens when we worship –

the God of the universe,

the God of all power and glory is there present with us,

and with this realization we are invited to surrender, to a ‘not my will but yours be done’ moment and say ‘come and have Your way, in our lives, in our church, in our world and in our worship of you.’

The chorus refrain

‘When the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord starts moving, there’s nothing that could stop what He is doing’

came as a spontaneous song when I was leading worship during a time of intercession as we were praying for God to start a new deep work in the local church and surrounding community.

It reminds us of the unstoppable power of God, that He finishes what He starts and one way or another He will accomplish His plans and purposes.

The verses were first sung live during an online prayer session whilst we were turning the headlines to heart cries and the song builds with raw emotion to a bridge that cries out for Him to ‘shake up the plans we’ve made, rebuild the church and relight the flame’.

Something we long to see after these recent few years of quarantine and re-evaluating.

From the personal to the corporate, the micro to the macro, this song is a prayer of reset and revival, a heart-cry to encounter the Living God and let him move however he wants to in the present moment and beyond. Lord, come and have Your way!
